THE DAY OF BIRTH ARRIVES

THE DAY OF BIRTH ARRIVES......

THE ORDEAL AND TRAUMA OF THE BIRTH
ITSELF..........
We must remember this is a fully developed little being arriving from a warm, cosy, safe womb. Now all of a sudden there are massive contractions squeezing onto the child. As the placenta starts tearing away from the womb the mother goes through enormous, astronomical pain. It literally feels like she is tearing apart inside because that is exactly what happens. She needs her man by her side to give her all the encouragement and mental and emotional help that he can. Her pelvis moves and must open up for the birth and for a first time mother this is a very frightening experience. No amount of preparation can prepare her for the enormous pain of childbirth. She may very well be crying out to relieve the pain and the baby's mind records all this. At the same time the baby is going through the immense trauma of being pushed out through a little tunnel into the cold hands of the nurses. It's a good idea to hold the baby straight after birth before the nurses snatch them away to "clean" them. Why it is dine away from the mother I don't know, because all you hear is the child crying their heads off. This should not be the first experience of life on earth. They clean out the nose, ears, mouth and all openings to make sure there are no obstructions. Why it has to be done in such a cold clinical manner I will never understand. Suddenly the baby is no longer in the warmth of a cosy womb, but on a cold scale and cold table in hands they do know or recognize.
WHAT A TERRIBLE TRAUMA.
The mother is not finished yet, the contractions continue untill the placenta is ejected and only then it stops and she is left with the pain of afterbirth and possible stitches if she torn open while giving birth.

All this happens in a matter of a few hours to about half a day, if you are fortunate. It is a lot of drama and trauma in such a short space of time. After finishing off, the mother has a bath and then the baby is brought to her.....©

TOMORROW : WE LOOK AT THE EMOTIONAL IMPACT OF THIS SUDDEN SEPARATION AND ISOLATION........
